In February 2013, it had been over a year since I’d shot anyone — and two years before that one.
I found myself in Las Vegas missing the experience, so I put out a casting looking for people to collaborate with. That’s how I met Joanna. She didn’t have any modeling experience, but those are often the kinds of shoots that I enjoy shooting most.
I have found, many times, that models with a lot of experience become set in their ways and are more difficult to direct because they go on autopilot rather than remain present and work in the moment. As such, shoots become much less collaborate — and collaborations are what I appreciate the most.
