When I put out a casting looking for photography subjects in July 2018, it had been 5 years since my previous shoot — and 10 years since I’d been working with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II as a primary camera. Would it hold up after all this time?

Like Stevi, Shai brought a ton of natural talent & beauty to the shoot — and a wonderful personality to boot.

In one of the few times I’ve ever done so, we had such a good time shooting that we arranged to follow-up with another shoot the next day.

In February 2013, it had been over a year since I’d shot anyone — and two years before that one.

I found myself in Las Vegas missing the experience, so I put out a casting looking for people to collaborate with. That’s how I met Joanna. She didn’t have any modeling experience, but those are often the kinds of shoots that I enjoy shooting most.

I have found, many times, that models with a lot of experience become set in their ways and are more difficult to direct because they go on autopilot rather than remain present and work in the moment. As such, shoots become much less collaborate — and collaborations are what I appreciate the most.
